Large trades · NinjaTrader 8

Where the big money went in.

A two-hundred-contract trade and a two-contract one count the same in the bar's volume. This separates them: it marks the large ones at the exact price they executed, sized to match.

Block Trades
Marks large trades at the exact price they executed, sized by volume, with absorption detection. NinjaTrader 8.

At the exact price

Not at the foot of the chart or in a separate list: at the coordinate where it happened. So you see whether the big money went in high, low or mid-range.

Three ways of counting

The single tick that is already large, the burst that adds up fast, and the running total per price inside the bar. A sliced order never shows up the first way.

Relative threshold

The bar can be set in contracts or in multiples of the usual volume, which is what makes one setting work across different instruments.

On the chart

Blue for what traded at the offer, red at the bid, with circle size following volume.

Absorption

A very large trade whose bar barely moves: the ABS tag marks that someone absorbed all that aggression.

What each term means

The names the indicator uses, and what each one means.

  • Block trade. A trade far larger than the usual size.
  • Burst. Several trades in quick succession adding up to a large size.
  • Per-bar total. The sum of what traded at one price inside the bar.
  • Relative threshold. The bar set in multiples of average volume, not fixed contracts.
  • ABS. Absorption: heavy volume came in and price did not move.
