The running account between buyers and sellers.

Delta is the difference between what traded at the offer and what traded at the bid. Adding it up draws a second curve under price: who has been paying to get in. When the two stop moving together, there is something to look at.

Cumulative Delta
Cumulative delta drawn as its own candles below price, with configurable reset, a zero line and rebuilt history, for NinjaTrader 8.

Candles, not a line

Cumulative delta gets its own candle: the open, high, low and close of delta inside each bar. A line would hide the path it took.

Reset on your terms

By session, by day, or continuous with no reset. A running total only means something against a starting point, and you choose it.

With history

It does not start counting when you add it: it rebuilds as many bars back as you ask for.

What each term means

The names the indicator uses, and what each one means.

  • Delta. Volume traded at the offer minus volume traded at the bid.
  • Cumulative delta. The running sum of delta since the reset point.
  • Reset mode. Session, daily or continuous.
  • Zero line. Where buyers and sellers have evened out.
  • Divergence. Price rises and cumulative delta does not follow, or the other way round.
